MICROBLADING

Microblading is a cosmetic tattooing procedure that is done to fill in thin eyebrow areas in order to make them look fuller. Unlike tattooing, microblading doesn’t go deep in the skin but is more on the surface of the skin and is not permanent as the colour fades away with 18 months. Additionally, we do micro shading in combination with microblading for eyebrow shaping and to add volume to the eyebrows.

Is microblading different from micro shading?
Both procedures work to make the eyebrows look fuller. Microblading involves “strokes” of pigment from a bladed needle, mimicking hair. Micro shading, on the other hand, delivers small dots of pigment onto the skin to fill the eyebrow area.
What does the microblading involve?
On the day of the procedure, Dr Tladi will explain the procedure to you and the options, including the style, colour and make recommendations depending on the desired results. Before the procedure, the aesthetician will use a topical numbing ointment on your brow area to help reduce discomfort during the microblading procedure.

During the procedure, Dr Tladi will measure the area around the brows, taking into account the shape of the face, symmetry, facial features, desired results, etc. She will then begin the process by gently implanting the pigment by making featherweight strokes. Each stroke is a superficial line on the brow’s skin, and the colour pigment seeps in and settles then. A numbing ointment may be used again if any discomfort is experienced during the procedure.

A final layer of colour pigment will be added and will stay on for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the aesthetician will wipe the colour pigment off, revealing the beautiful and full brows.
What happens after microblading?
After the procedure, for at least one week afterwards, the eyebrows may appear darker and may feel sharper due to scabbing and healing. Mild swelling and some redness may be experienced. Another appointment will be scheduled 6-8 weeks to top up and fill in any gaps where the pigment hasn’t healed properly. During this top-up session, further strokes will be added, as well as a darker pigment may be added if preferred. Aftercare instructions will be given as to what to do and what to avoid.
