MESOTHERAPY
Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive non-surgical treatment that uses tiny injections of vitamins, enzymes, hormones and plant extracts to rejuvenate and tighten the skin of the face, body and even scalp. Mesotherapy can also be used to reduce cellulite, remove fat, treat alopecia (hair loss), fade wrinkles and lines, tighten the skin and contour the body.
How does mesotherapy work?
Mesotherapy uses fine needle injections to deliver active ingredients into the middle layer of the skin (the mesoderm) of problem areas, correcting underlying problems like poor circulation and inflammation that cause skin damage. Depending on what the issue is (cellulite, loose skin, wrinkles or pigmentation) Dr Tladi may make use of various substances for mesotherapy including hormones such as calcitonin and thyroxin, enzymes like collagenase and hyaluronidase, herbal extracts, vitamins and minerals. By introducing these substances into the skin at the mesoderm level, the molecules encourage the skin cells to function at an optimum level.
What does the procedure involve?
During your first consultation with Dr Tladi at Nubian Medical Aesthetics, she will discuss the process and the areas of concern with you. Depending on your goals, different substances may be used for mesotherapy for different goals. Thereafter your therapist will apply a numbing cream to the area. Using a special machine with tiny needles, the substance will be injected into the specific area with multiple injections in a row. Depending on the goal for treatment, a series of injections may be given at different depths.
Mild redness and swelling of the skin can be expected after treatment. If done for wrinkles and fine lines, you can expect dry and tight feeling skin for the next day or two. If done for fat reduction, you may have tenderness and bruising for the next 1 to 3 days.

How often will I need to do mesotherapy for optimum results?
You will need a few sessions to achieve the desired effect. Initially, you will need to have mesotherapy sessions every week for the first month. Once the area begins to improve, treatments will be stretched out to once every two weeks or once a month. Thereafter treatment should be repeated every 6 to 12 weeks (depending on the skin's response) for maintenance.
While mesotherapy requires long-term maintenance, it can be an excellent way for people in their twenties and early thirties to maintain young healthy skin for years to come.
