Micro-needling is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment for acne, scars and fine lines, deep, ingrained wrinkles and large pores. As the fine needles puncture the skin, it creates a micro-wound which triggers the body to repair the skin, enhancing the collagen response to the skin. This enhances the skin texture, firmness and hydration, as well as reduces the appearance of scars, pore size, and stretch marks. These micro punctures also allow ingredients in cosmeceutical solutions to penetrate better, than a topical application thus improving the natural stimulation of collagen, improving the look and feel of skin over time.

At your first consultation at Nubian Medical Aesthetics with Dr Tladi, she will be able to assess the condition of your skin and advise you on the best treatment options. Micro-needling can be used around the eyes, mouth, cheeks and neck. If micro-needling is deemed the best solution, she will begin by applying a numbing cream. The pen-like device fitted with fine needles which pierce the top layer of skin is then rolled over the surface of the skin. Following the treatment, Dr Tladi will apply a cosmeceutical solution such as a serum or Trans Dermal Solutions (TDS) which can now better penetrate the skin and enhance the results of the treatment. Slight swelling and minimal redness can be expected after micro needling. It may look as if you are sunburnt – this should go away within a day or two as the skin heals rapidly. Within 10 days of treatment you should be able to see results, and with repeated sessions of micro-needling, this treatment is very effective. Depending on the condition of the skin and desired aim, a course of 4 – 12 sessions is advised for optimal results.

Microneedling is not painful since a numbing cream is used. You may only feel a slight pricking sensation during the treatment, and the skin may feel warm afterwards.
